The Converse Block Party held over the past weekend took over Prahran’s Princes Gardens in Melbourne and doused it with a whole lot of street vibe. A free-for-all, skaters, b-ballers and b-boys strutted their stuff for the cool cats to the hot beats of some local and international DJs and MCs.
Arriving there at around half past three, I walked around armed with my Lumix LX3. I was especially fascinated with the huge half pipe and the skaters with the balls to conquer it. Even stepping up the pipe and looking down it made me feel squeamish.
These pictures were all featured as a newsflash on Australia’s (and in fact the world’s) foremost sneaker/street culture magazine – SneakerFreaker (click here to see the news post). Great write up there by a sneaker freaker herself, Emma Lee.
My favourite shot’s the last one where I snapped this pic of the kid sitting on a ramp, watching the skatepark competition going on. What’s your favourite shot out of the lot?
